My name is Jennifer Jones and I am a full time artist living in Wexford, Pennsylvania.

I create whimsical characters using muslin, acrylics and dimensional paints.  My collection of UgLee's is often described as unconventional, dimensional, whimsical, pop, unique, one-of-a-kind, child like, colorful and above all ... freaking' hysterical.  Each UgLee is a One-Of-A-Kind design sketched out on muslin, sewn, stuffed with polyfill and hand painted with acrylics. The majority are designed to hang on a wall however, some are free standing and others are painted on gallery stretched canvas.

My website BuTTUgLee.com features my portfolio and acts as a hub for my business.  You can purchase my creations on BuTTUgLee.Etsy.com.  I have been a part of the Etsy community since 2007.  Etsy has enabled me to sell my creations all over the world.  It is also a great place for me to connect with other artists.

Here is a copy of my profile ... taken from my Etsy shop!

I am a full time artist and mother of a 20yr old daughter named Sam and a 114 lb Bernese Mountain Dog named Lilly. I just recently relocated from Littleton, Colorado to Wexford, Pennsylvania.  (For some God forsaken reason I chose to experience all of life's major changes in a 4 month period of time.) Colorado had been my home for over 22yrs.  It was a very difficult move  but just another part of the journey.  I now live with my sister, Beth and her beautiful family in Wexford, which is outside of Pittsburg.  ( As of today 12/8/2011 I will have been in PA for just over 11 months. )

They have so graciously taken me in as a permanent house guest ... along with LiLLy, my rather large pooch.  They have also created an entire room for my studio.  I now have a place for my Lilly to run and a place for my art to grow.  I feel like I have won the lottery.

My art is what has kept me sane and continues to be my passion.  It is what brings me the greatest joy and fills my soul. I believe in my heart that my art can heal.  I know it has done wonders for me.  Life can become way too stressful these days.
Sometimes we just need a little lift.  BuTT UgLee seems to fit the bill.

Each character/creation is a-one-of-a-kind.  No two will ever have the same awkward, lost, stunned, frazzled, lonley, befuddled, goofy, wacked out look, as the other.

They all start with a burst of inspiration, followed by a bolt of muslin, stuffing, acrylic paint, dimensional paint, glitter glue, maybe some wire and some gloss Modge Podge to seal the deal.  The average UgLee takes approximately a week to complete.

Most UgLee's are designed to hang on the wall.  The beauty of the UgLee's is that they are flexible enough for any room in the house OR office.  They are great for ANY age and the make the perfect gift.  Especially for the person who has everything!  Chances are they do not have an UgLee.

My collection is ever growing.  Customers are always pushing me to try new things.  In 2009 I added, upon request, a squirrel, horse, dino, more fish, raccoon, football, full moon and many more. In 2010 I added a zebra, moose, flamingo, more UgLee kids, Eskimo with sled dog and fishing pole,  turkey, donkey, monkey, snail, crab, frog, lobster and more!  In 2011 ... I added a lion, tiger, monsters, canvas quotes, UgLee's on canvas, a football ...  and tons more!!

I will try anything.  Keep the requests coming.

You can find me on BuTTUgLee.com or on my blog at jenniferajones.typepad.com.

                      UpDaTe ... 12/3/2010
I feel compelled to add this ...

I wanted you to know that while my creations are goofy as hell, I take what I do very seriously.  I have days where I am just exhausted or my wrists and arms ache from sewing, so I have to stop and take a day or two off.

OR maybe I am just burned out and need to charge my creative batteries.

Whatever it may be ... just know that I never work on an UgLee if I am in this kind of state or mood.    I am sensitive to energy and know that my work carries mine.

When you bring home an UgLee ... you are getting 100% of my heart and soul.  You get 100% kick-ass quality mojo.

I am madly in love with each character I create and often have a hard time parting with them.  I know this all sounds really "out there" but I wanted you to know how passionate I am about what I do.

                      OK ... all done now!
OH ... one more thing ...

I was journaling last week and this spilled out.  It defines me in a way ...

I love the smell of a fresh box of crayons.  If it comes with a coloring book ... say George of the Jungle ... even better.  It's hard to find the classic white Elmers paste any more.  It never really worked well but I loved the texture.  Rubber cement is available and continues to give me the same high as it did in 4th grade.
Match Box cars are cool.  No one told me you couldn't strap Barbie to an oak tree and use her for target practice.  BB guns and an endless supply of pellets made for a great afternoon.
